FAQ

Does cotton shrink?

Yes, yes it does.
Our cotton is treated and preshrunk to reduce shrinkage which means that it will shrink less than 3% after the first wash.

Typically.
Cotton fibers can shrink as much as 3% in the dryer or when washed. Spinning cotton into thread stretches the fibers tightly, and heat can release that tension, causing the fibers to contract slightly. The first time you wash a cotton item is the most crucial. The heat, moisture, and friction of the washing machine can release some of the tension in the fibers, which may cause the garment to get slightly smaller.

Temperature matters.
Your garment will be less likely to shrink the second time you wash it, and beyond, though you should still avoid hot water or a high-heat dryer setting. Even pre-shrunk cotton can continue to contract depending on the amount of heat it is exposed to and the style of its weave.

Why is cotton so amazing?

It’s naturally soft and gets even softer with time and wear
Cotton garments are naturally soft, and they get even softer with time and wear. So ease up on the guilt, if your Cherubino insists on wearing the same outfit day after day, it isn’t such a bad thing after all.

It’s hypoallergenic
Cotton fabric rarely causes allergic reactions and wearing cotton is often recommended for those with skin allergies. Cotton has been the fabric of choice for baby clothing for generations.

It’s comfy
Cotton clothing is soft and stretches easily, making it a comfortable fabric to wear, play, learn, lounge, sleep, and act silly in.

It’s a natural insulator
Cotton clothing protects against heat in the summer and cold in the winter. It provides thermal insulation as the cotton fabric traps air between the fabric fibers. The cotton fibers in clothing hold the fabric away from the skin, further allowing for more air to be trapped between the skin and fabric which helps with insulation and comfort.

It’s durable
Cotton has high tensile strength, making it strong, durable, and less likely to rip or tear.

How do I wash Cherubino hoodies and joggers without losing the drawstring?

Tie the drawstrings to prevent loss or tangling during the wash and drying cycles.

How do I wash Cherubino garments that are embellished with sequins, glitter, or tulle?

Turn them inside out and place them inside a mesh laundry bag before washing and drying. The mesh laundry bag is also a great way to keep your sock partnered up.

What is an OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification?

Cherubino produces a full range of children’s clothing certified by OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. An OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification means that every Cherubino garment meets the human-ecological requirements established for products directly contacting the skin.

How adorable do I look?

Choosing the right size for your Cherubini.
All Cherubini are adorable, each in their very own unique way. At Cherubino, we advocate for positive body image in children which we kept in mind when we created our comprehensive size guide. Don’t be afraid to size-up, or down for that matter, if you feel that your child will be more comfortable, or simply feel good in a particular size that may or may not be a direct match to your child’s age.
